As you follow the dirt road leading to Ca' di Pesa, you soon begin to realize that what you have embarked on is nothing short of a visit to some form of sensorial paradise. The views that open beneath you have been exquisitely laid out by Mother Nature as a realistic painting of what has to be one of the world's most beautiful sceneries. Here, vines and olive groves blend with forest and dirt tracks lined by centuries-old Italian cypress trees. The extent of this beauty is so extreme that it often appears preposterous, and you will find yourself stopping in - seemingly - the middle of nowhere just to be able to soak it all in!
It may seem like an endless journey, but soon you will arrive at your destination, only to discover that you are now standing right in the middle of that which baffled you from a distance: a property so ideally located that, everywhere you look, you are surrounded by the same idyllic views, and filled with a complete sense of peace and blissful isolation.
Ca' di Pesa is ideal for the holiday of a lifetime with friends or family. The main villa has 10 bedrooms (8 bathrooms), and numerous common areas, both indoors and outdoors. There are several covered outdoor dining areas, a fully equipped kitchen, a wood oven for pizza nights (!), and a formidable wine cellar with the estate's excellent wines at your disposal.
The villa is surrounded by ample gardens commanding breathtaking views of the Pesa valley. Outdoors, guests are able to indulge in dolce far niente, lounging by the panoramic pool or napping in a hammock, or playing a game of bocce while enjoying the shade afforded by the many umbrella pines that dot the property.
Ca' di Pesa is also a working winery, and you won't have to look far to find the estate's vineyards and wine cellar - where its excellent wines are made.
And yet, from a practical point of view, you are just 35 minutes from the city of Florence (45 minutes from Florence airport) - and a stone's throw away from Panzano and Greve in Chianti...
When to go
Anytime between March and November. March marks the beginning of Spring in Tuscany, with mild temperatures and colourful sceneries coming back to life. Summer is hot, and often lasts well into September, making many prefer the cooler month of October for intense sightseeing. November is Tuscany's best kept secret - it is the time of the olive harvest, when local gastronomy and Autum colours truly come to life!
This will depend a little on the group's dynamics, but easily 8 couples, or 20 people.
